New Update on Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Brings Hope to Fans
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has officially been rated in South Korea, providing an encouraging update for fans eagerly awaiting the sequel. The appearance of this rating suggests that the game is progressing well and makes significant delays less likely.
The sequel to Warhorse Studios’ 2018 RPG was first announced in April 2024. At the time, publisher Deep Silver revealed plans for a late 2024 release. However, with most of the year now gone and no confirmed release date yet, some fans have grown concerned that the launch might face delays. This recent rating offers a reassuring sign that the game is still on track.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Earns 19+ Rating in South Korea
Although delays are still possible, the likelihood of major setbacks has decreased now that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has received an age classification from South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC). Reddit user ReFlectioH first noticed the update, revealing that GRAC assigned a 19+ rating to the upcoming RPG on August 1, following an application submitted on July 25. While Deep Silver, Warhorse Studios’ sister company, will publish the game, the GRAC rating request came from Bada Games, a South Korean localization and marketing agency. This indicates that, like its predecessor, the sequel will also be localized in Korean.
The 19+ rating is the most mature classification GRAC can issue before refusing to rate a game altogether. According to the South Korean agency, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 earned this label for its depictions of intense violence, sexual content, profanity, and drug and alcohol use. Additionally, the rating confirms one specific feature: gambling. The classification notes that Henry will be able to wager money on dice games, likely referencing the return of the Farkle dice game from the first installment, though no further details were provided.
The rating’s emergence suggests that Deep Silver has already begun the necessary legal preparations for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s release, making significant delays seem less likely. However, as of August 2024, the lack of a firm release date raises the possibility that the game could slip into early 2025.
Deep Silver will likely aim to avoid such a delay, as the holiday season remains the most profitable period for game publishers. Alongside PC, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is set to launch on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.
