Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Faces Official Delay
Warhorse Studios has shared a significant update on its upcoming RPG, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, confirming a delayed release date and detailing what fans can expect from the game at Gamescom next week. Initially scheduled for release later this year as one of 2024’s most anticipated RPGs, the game’s release date was recently leaked, suggesting a delay into 2025.
The original Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Warhorse Studios’ debut title, launched in 2018 to largely positive reviews from RPG enthusiasts. Praised for its narrative depth, historical accuracy, and grounded first-person melee combat, the game immersed players in the Kingdom of Bohemia. The sequel, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, aims to build on the original’s success with an expanded story, gameplay enhancements, and new features.
Warhorse Studios has officially revealed the release date for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, though it may come as a disappointment to some fans. In a two-minute video shared on Twitter, the studio announced that the game has been delayed to 2025 and is now set to launch on February 11, just a few days after the anniversary of the original game’s release.
The studio also confirmed a significant presence at the upcoming Gamescom. Fans can look forward to a new trailer premiering during Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live, along with a 20-minute gameplay showcase later in the week. Additionally, Warhorse plans to fully unveil the collector’s edition for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 during the event.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Release Date
With major releases like Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Metaphor: Re-Fantazio, and Greedfall 2 early access slated for this fall, the decision to push Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 to next year may come as a relief for RPG fans already juggling a packed schedule. The game’s new release date of February 11 places it just one week before the launch of Obsidian Entertainment’s highly anticipated fantasy RPG, Avowed, on February 18. While both titles cater to RPG enthusiasts, they offer distinct experiences: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 stays rooted in medieval realism, whereas Avowed leans heavily into fantasy. Additionally, Avowed’s availability on Xbox Game Pass may enable many fans to enjoy both games without having to choose between them.
Fans eagerly awaiting Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 should tune in to Gamescom next week for the game’s showcase. Highlights include its trailer debut during Opening Night Live on August 20, a 20-minute gameplay preview, and the unveiling of the collector’s edition. For newcomers to the series, the delay offers an excellent opportunity to experience the first game before the sequel’s February 11 launch.
