Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Shares Exciting Performance Details
Klíma confirmed that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will not include multiple graphics modes. This trend, which gained popularity during the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X era, typically allows players to choose between performance and quality settings. However, Warhorse Studios is opting to dedicate its efforts to optimizing a single mode for the best possible experience. These optimization efforts are reportedly going well, with Klíma stating that the game is already running above 30fps in internal tests. Despite this, the studio plans to lock the frame rate on consoles for consistency.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Performance Overview
Platform | Resolution | Frame Rate |
PlayStation 5 | 4K | 30fps |
Xbox Series X | 4K | 30fps |
Xbox Series S | 1440p | 30fps |
PC | User-configurable | TBA, likely unlocked |
The studio has not confirmed whether the frame rate cap will apply to the PC version of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. However, based on the original game, it seems unlikely. The first Kingdom Come: Deliverance had no frame rate cap on PC, except for its cutscenes, which were locked at 30fps by default. Even that restriction could be bypassed using a custom configuration file that leveraged CryEngine 3’s native commands. The sequel will utilize a newer and significantly modified version of the same engine.
Although some console players may be disappointed by the lack of graphics options, such as trading resolution for performance, Warhorse’s decision to focus on a single mode could result in a more polished game. The original Kingdom Come: Deliverance faced criticism for launching with numerous technical issues, with Klíma himself admitting that more development time would have been beneficial. Fortunately, most of those issues were resolved through post-launch updates.
